Weezy’s New Album

September 1st, 2011

That’s right the day after the VMAs Lil Wayne’s new album dropped, “Tha Carter IV.” This is Wayne’s first real album in three years, and its pretty dope. The song “How to Love” has been on the charts for a while now and has all the girls swooning, which is something you would never think Lil Wayne’s music could do. But that’s why Ike loves this album so much because it is different than Weezys last albums yet it still has his signature raspy voice and some songs feature his hard core rapping style.

Some of Ike’s favorites are the collaborations with Bruno Mars, “Mirror” and with Drake, “She Will” and with T-Pain, “How to Hate.”

VMA Recap!

August 30th, 2011

Beyonce is pregnant.

Probably the biggest news from Sunday Night’s VMA’s! Next to Beyonce’s fabulous baby bump reveal, Lady Gaga’s get up as her alter ego, Jo Calderone was definitely also a shock. The whole night was one spectacle after another and Ike has already watched it twice just because its that good.

There was an awesome tribute to Britney Spears complete with clips and dancers in get up from her years of iconic videos including, “Hit Me Baby One More Time”, “Crazy”, “Toxic” and many others. Along with the tribute Britney went home with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

Bruno Mars performed a rendition of one of Amy Winehouse’s songs, “Valerie” in tribute to the incredible artist that we lost about a month ago. The remembrance of Amy Winehouse was not only touching but it reminded us how soulful Amy really was and how much she already is and will be missed.

Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Adele all took home more than one VMA. Lady Gaga accepted all of her awards dressed as her alter ego, Katy Perry won best video of the year, “Firework” and best collaboration video for “E.T” with Kany west. “Rolling in the Deep” by Adelle won a bunch of behind the scenes awards like, Editing and Art Direction.

All in all the event was a big night for Hollywood’s top musical performers but all Ike can think about is what will happen next year. And what will Beyonce and Jay-Z name their baby?!

MTV VMAs 2011

August 25th, 2011

In the midst of all of the back to school hub-bub The MTV Video Music Awards are this weekend and Ike is dying to see what will happen this year.

The VMAs are known to be an over the top, insane, off the hook, crazy, mind blowing, star studded evening filled with incredible performances and Moonman trophies given out to honor the top music videos and artists. It seems like every year something absolutely ridiculous happens, from Madonna kissing Britney Spears and Christina Agulera in 2003 to the Kanye West swooping in on Taylor Swift’s moment in 2009 to Lady Gaga’s meat dress last year, something is bound to happen this year but what will the jaw dropping moment be? I guess we will all have to tune in on Sunday at 9pm to find out!

The VMAS are at the Staples Center this year and will feature special performances by; Beyonce, Pitbull & Jessie J, Adele, Bruno Mars, Chris Brown, Lady Gaga, Lil Wayne and Young the Giant.

Glee-MANIA

August 22nd, 2011

Glee is taking over from the Glee 3D movie to the Glee Project on Oxygen to the new season airing in September, Ike definitely considers himself a Gleek.

The Glee Project wraps up and Ike has been following since day one as he considers the show this summer’s best reality competition. The whole group joined the four finalists; Samuel, Damian, Alex and Lindsey for an epic video shoot of Pinks’, “Raise your Glass” on top of a major high rise building in Downtown LA.

The lucky four each did amazing final performances; Alex performed in Drag, Samuel rocked out, Damian made everyone swoon and Lindsey showed off her amazing vocals once again. But only one would win a seven episode arc on Glee…or so they thought. Ryan Murphy co-creator of Glee announced that Samuel was the winner of the Glee Project, the confetti rained down and everyone congratulated Sam. Then Ryan asked to speak with Damian who gracefully said he was excited for Samuel who deserved the win. Ryan then informed Damian that he too had won the Glee Project. The room erupted a second time as Damian jumped in excitement.

Samuel later told People magazine, “I was so happy Damian got to win as well. At this point we were just brothers. I knew when he won, too, it felt like I won twice.” But that wasn’t it! Ryan then told Alex and Lindsey that they were also going to be on Glee with a two episode arc. So in the end all four of them went home winners.

Ike is excited to Gleek out September 20th for the Season 3 premiere! Can’t wait to see what the Glee Project winners characters will be like!

Do you think you have what it takes to be on Glee? The next season of the Glee Project is looking for a new cast so check out Oxygen.com to see how to upload your video audition.

New Drake Set to Drop

August 18th, 2011

That’s right Drake has set October 24th for the release of his next album entitled, “Take Care.” The Single, “Headlines” is already pulling in major sales and is featured as a top selling song on iTunes. It sold a whopping 139,274 copies in just one day.

All of this success for such a young artist is rare to say the least, but Ike knows that Drake is gonna be around for a while. According to his co-manager, Cortez Bryant, “Drake tells an entire story with “Take Care” and fans are going to be able to see how far he has come.”

Drake’s last album, “Thank Me Later” reached platinum sales with over 1.5 million sold to date. So he has already set the bar high for himself. Will he reach another platinum on this new record? Ike thinks he can do it, I mean its Dreezy!

Peapod Adobe Youth Voices Academy

August 15th, 2011

The Black Eyed Peas have always been one of Ike’s favorite groups. He’s pretty sure his first music download off of iTunes was, ‘Don’t Phunk with My Heart.’

The hip hop ensemble which includes, Fergie, Will.I.AM., Apl.de.ap and Taboo are not only a world renowned group of talented artists they are also givers. The B.E.P have taken their fame and fortune and put it to a great cause by creating The Peapod Foundation.

The foundation was started by Will.i.am as a foundation that encourages social change by uniting people through the universal language of music. A section of the Foundation went into developing The Peapod Music and Arts Academy which opened in 2008. The Academy is a cutting edge arts school that caters to disadvantaged and foster kids aged 13-19 in South Central LA. The Black Eyed Peas have gathered accomplished media makers and performers to lead hands-on classes and industry field trips designed to inspire in the areas of music, film, poetry, dance, acting and digital media.

The Black Eyed Peas’ Peapod Foundation and the Adobe Youth Voices began another major effort to bring music and art education to underprivileged youth not only in Los Angeles but throughout America by launching a series of Peapod Adobe Youth Voices Academies. The dynamic pairing has already opened four Academies nationally. With the help of Fergie and the rest of the Black Eyed Peas they just unveiled a fifth Youth Academy in San Jose California on August 6th 2011. An estimated 300 kids are expected to enroll at the academy every year to study film music and art.

Power to the young budding artists!

IKE Heart’s Radio

August 8th, 2011

Tickets to the two day iHeartRadio music festival in Las Vegas sold out in ten minutes!

What a bummer because it’s said to be the, “biggest live music event in radio history.”

The lineup is incredible: Lady Gaga, Coldplay, Nicki Minaj, the Black Eyed Peas, Alicia Keys, Carrie Underwood, Bruno Mars, Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and more big names will be announced throughout the summer. The concert will take place September 23rd and 24th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Dancin’ on the Strip

August 4th, 2011

Heading to Vegas for some summer fun and want to escape the heat with an amazing show that will blow your mind? Well guess who’s been takin’ over the strip? Thats right America’s Best Dance Crew’s season 1 winners, the Jabbawockeez. In a full scale Vegas production with the lights, sound, and drama and comedy that is sure to have you groovin’ in your seats and put a smile on your face.

The show is called, “MUS.I.C” and it has been on the Monte Carlo Stage for almost a year now. It premiered at the MGM Grand’s Hollywoood Theatre and received rave reviews. It has even pulled in some hot celebrities like Britney Spears who brought her young boys, Preston and Jaden to enjoy the show. Apparently she was dancing in her seat to Beyonce’s ‘Single Ladies’, which I’m guessing means she liked it!

Jabbawokkeez are known for their signature white masks and white gloves that conceal their individual identities and let the dancing speak for its self. Ike idolizes the group, I mean they were the start of his favorite TV show, ABDC which has launched in success and just wrapped up their 6th season. We’ve heard rumors that the 7th season of ABDC may be an All-Star season where the winners of the previous seasons will compete which will be an ultimate battle of the best of the best for the Best Dance Crew title. It’s only a rumor, but wouldn’t that be siiick!

“Tune in to MÜS.I.C., an audiovisual story of inspiration brought to life through the harmonization of sound and movement with acclaimed dance crew Jabbawockeez. Dressed in expressionless white masks and white gloves, these one-of-a-kind dancers guide your attention to visualize the music through their intricate moves, leaving audiences in awe.”

Ike is begging for a ticket to Vegas to see the Jabbawockeez live on stage!

Ike Celebrates National Dance Day

August 1st, 2011

National Dance Day was this weekend and many people got up and grooved to LMFAO’s Party Rock Anthem as they mastered (or attempted to master) Tabitha and Napoleon form Nappytab’s dace routine to celebrate the holiday. The non-profit organization that came up with National Dance Day named Dizzyfeet was founded by “So You Think You Can Dance” judge, Nigel Lythgoe, “Dancing with the Stars” judge, Carrie Ann Inaba, as well as Adam Shankman and Katie Holmes. The organization helps underprivileged young people realize their dreams of becoming professional Dancers and to improve access to dance education in the United States. This is the second annual National Dance Day and this year the event took place at Six Flags parks across the country as well as in people’s living rooms, back yards and various dance studios.

Ike had to get in on the fun in someway so he took his own spin off of the NappyTabs choreography and danced his way through Venice Beach, CA. Here’s the proof:
