The Black Eyed Peas have always been one of Ike’s favorite groups. He’s pretty sure his first music download off of iTunes was, ‘Don’t Phunk with My Heart.’
The hip hop ensemble which includes, Fergie, Will.I.AM., Apl.de.ap and Taboo are not only a world renowned group of talented artists they are also givers. The B.E.P have taken their fame and fortune and put it to a great cause by creating The Peapod Foundation.
The foundation was started by Will.i.am as a foundation that encourages social change by uniting people through the universal language of music. A section of the Foundation went into developing The Peapod Music and Arts Academy which opened in 2008. The Academy is a cutting edge arts school that caters to disadvantaged and foster kids aged 13-19 in South Central LA. The Black Eyed Peas have gathered accomplished media makers and performers to lead hands-on classes and industry field trips designed to inspire in the areas of music, film, poetry, dance, acting and digital media.
The Black Eyed Peas’ Peapod Foundation and the Adobe Youth Voices began another major effort to bring music and art education to underprivileged youth not only in Los Angeles but throughout America by launching a series of Peapod Adobe Youth Voices Academies. The dynamic pairing has already opened four Academies nationally. With the help of Fergie and the rest of the Black Eyed Peas they just unveiled a fifth Youth Academy in San Jose California on August 6th 2011. An estimated 300 kids are expected to enroll at the academy every year to study film music and art.
Power to the young budding artists!

Jabbawokkeez are known for their signature white masks and white gloves that conceal their individual identities and let the dancing speak for its self. Ike idolizes the group, I mean they were the start of his favorite TV show, ABDC which has launched in success and just wrapped up their 6th season. We’ve heard rumors that the 7th season of ABDC may be an All-Star season where the winners of the previous seasons will compete which will be an ultimate battle of the best of the best for the Best Dance Crew title. It’s only a rumor, but wouldn’t that be siiick!
It seems like everyone who was in Southern California this past weekend headed down to San Diego to join in the madness at Comic-Con 2011. From Star Wars drones to Superman’s to full body suit wearing Avatar’s almost everyone was dressed up and ready to enjoy the biggest event in Comic loving, game playing, movie fanatic super nerds. (And “nerds” is not a derogatory term because nerds do rule the world.) Major directors like Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson to The Twilight Saga actors; Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson to major A list stars like Charlize Theron, Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig just name a few of the big names who showed up to this four day event. Frankly those eight stars don’t even begin to account for the huge number of celebrities that made appearances at the 41st official Comic-Con event.
shoulder pads I am sure would make any man take a step back from a women who proudly wears it. Another gem of the exhibit is from McQueen’s 2006 runway show which featured the iconic hologram presentation of Kate Moss in one of McQueen’s billowing gowns where she seems to take on the ethereal appearance of an angel floating in mid air.
Ike is squirming in his two tone Nike Airs as he tries to patiently wait for the drop of the highly anticipated collaboration album by two major world icons. Jay-Z and Kanye West have been collaborating on Jay-Z’s new album entitled, Watch the Throne. It is set to be released on August 2nd which means only 14 days!
and ‘Beautiful Girls’ two other fresh tracks and it had Ike head bobbin’. Jay-Z claims that the album will be “different” which I am sure means it will be AWESOME. The Jigga man himself held a listening party with MTV and played eleven tracks that may or may not be on the album that included some songs by Odd Future’s, Frank Ocean and of course the Diva herself Beyoncé.
I remember the first one like it was ten minutes ago when in reality it was ten years ago. It’s an incredible feeling to grow up with something so timeless but unfortunately all good things have to come to an end. Luckily I am sure this multibillion dollar franchise will come to an end with a bang.

Who ever thought that museums are fuddy duddy just got trumped by the MOCA who has caught up with the times. The current exhibit called Art in the Streets is off the charts cool. It’s the first major survey of street art and graffiti featured in a reputable U.S. museum. It tracks graffiti all the way back to the 1970s to the major movement it has become today. It showcases 50 of the most dynamic artists and of course will concentrate on Los Angeles’ role in the evolution of street art. Not only does it emphasize Los Angeles’ role but it also goes world wide from London to New York and San Francisco to Sao Paulo. It shows how each culture’s expressions changed and grew in attitude and style.
